Anubias barteri var. glabra is a hardy aquatic plant belonging to the Araceae family, native to tropical West Africa. It is a smooth-leaved variety of Anubias barteri, valued by aquarists for its durability, slow growth, and ability to thrive in low-light freshwater aquariums.

Morphology and growth

This plant features elongated, lanceolate leaves with a glossy dark green surface and a sturdy rhizome that grows horizontally. Its roots anchor to rocks or driftwood rather than substrate. Like other Anubias, the rhizome should remain above the substrate to prevent rot. It propagates easily by dividing the rhizome or through lateral shoots.

Anubias barteri var. glabra is a popular choice for aquascaping due to its tolerance of shade, wide temperature range (20–30 °C), and resistance to herbivorous fish. It thrives in low to moderate light and benefits from nutrient-rich water, though excessive light may encourage algae growth on leaves.

In the wild, it grows both submerged and emersed along shaded riverbanks and forest streams in humid tropical regions. Its robust structure allows survival in fluctuating water levels, making it an adaptable species for paludariums and aquaria replicating riparian environments.

Maintenance involves trimming old leaves and periodic rhizome division to prevent overcrowding. Fertilization is minimal, and CO₂ supplementation is optional. * Shipping is made to any location within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within 2 to 5 working days with Aramex
*The shipping cost is calculated as follows:
Shipping weight from 1 to 30 kg for 25 riyals. For every additional kilogram, 1 riyal.
Orders exceeding 300 riyals will be shipped for free, up to 15 kg. + 1 riyal for each additional kilogram.

Once we have dispatched your order you will receive a shipping email confirmation, so you know your order is on its way. The shipping email will contain all shipping information so you can keep tracking your order.

Also, you can track your shipping on our website using the tracking reference number. If no one’s at home and we are unable to deliver your item, you will be left a calling card and you will be able to arrange re-delivery.

Standard Delivery Service in KSA

All orders purchased before 1 pm Sunday to Thursday will be collected on the same day as per our standard delivery service and they will be dispatched and delivered to you within 2-3 days.

Next-Day Delivery Service in KSA

All orders purchased before 1 pm Sunday to Thursday will be dispatched by our delivery partner which aims to deliver the next working day. *Please note items purchased after 1 pm Thursday on our ‘Next Day Delivery Service’ will be shipped Friday for delivery on Monday. Any items purchased after 1 pm Friday will be shipped Monday for delivery on Tuesday. We do not offer next-day service on weekends. 

Bank Holiday Deliveries & Public Holidays

Aquarium and our delivery partners do not operate during Bank Holidays or any other Public Holidays. We are unable to dispatch or deliver items purchased during this period. We ask you to allow extra time for delivery when placing your order around Bank Holidays and other Public Holidays. Our normal services resume the next working day. Important Notice: Bank Holidays and any other Public Holidays will override any express service you have paid for during checkout. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
